Silk Road – Handmade Syrian Backgammon & Chess Board

Damascus once sat at the crossroads of the Silk Road, where craftsmanship from across the region came together — this board folds flat, travels easily, and unfolds into a proper backgammon and chess board wherever you land.

The mosaic surface is built by hand from dyed wood strips and mother-of-pearl set into a solid wood base, a technique passed down through Damascus workshops for generations, then finished with a hand-rubbed natural shellac for lasting shine. Every board is one of a kind, with the small variations that come from being made entirely by hand.
